The centrepiece of the Chiavenna Suite is the enchanting terrace, equipped with table and chairs, overlooking the Mera River, providing a magnificent view of a different, authentic Chiavenna, far from stereotypes. THINGS TO DO IN CHIAVENNA
Chiavenna is a splendid town located in the province of Sondrio, in the Lombardy region of northern Italy. It is situated in a stunning alpine valley, just a few kilometers from the Swiss border, and is surrounded by impressive mountains that make it an ideal destination for winter and summer sports enthusiasts.
The town is famous for its historic center, where you can admire ancient houses and noble palaces, baroque churches, and a series of small shops selling local products. Furthermore, Chiavenna hosts several restaurants that offer typical dishes of the Valchiavenna and Valtellina cuisine.
A unique tourist attraction is represented by the traditional "crotti", which have mostly become restaurants and typical venues located in panoramic and secluded positions, surrounded by nature and by forests and mountains. The "crotti" guarantee visitors an evocative experience that combines the culinary and cultural tradition of the area with the natural beauty of the alpine landscapes.
Recently, to the numerous attractions offered, the possibility of the enchanting "Passeggiata sul Mera" has been added, thanks to the new walkway along the right bank that, starting from the bridge of San Giovanni Nepomuceno, just below "home", winds for almost one kilometer, connecting the historic center to the sports field and extending the existing walkway between ancient buildings.
The town is also famous for its natural attractions, such as the "Parco delle Marmitte dei Giganti", a nature reserve where you can admire particular rock formations due to the erosion of the Mera river. Moreover, Chiavenna is located near Lake Como and Lake Mezzola, two of the most famous Italian lakes, which offer splendid panoramic views and numerous outdoor activities.
Finally, the city is easily accessible thanks to its strategic location, about 2 hours by car from Milan, 1 hour and a half from Zurich, and 1 hour from the exclusive St. Moritz. In summary, Chiavenna is a small gem that offers a perfect combination of history, culture, nature, and gastronomy.
